Crypt Of Wallyres

The crypt of Wallyres is the main hideout of the bandit clan red ravens. Deep down under the capitol city of Vandaryen they can operate without being watched by main justice.

Purpose / Function

Genesis

The crypt was first in build in 1160 when the first settlers began to establish a small town. In order to bury their dead familiars they created a large catacomb network under the evolving city. Through the raise of citizen numbers the crypt had been extended mutilple times.
Furthermore, the settlers constructed several entries which usually startet in a church. Although members of the upper class made arragements with the builders that they would have their own entrances, for exaple in their own home, so wealth families did not had to use the same paths like normal citizens. Moreover, rich houses got their private burial chambers which would have been specially constructed and mounted with traps if nessecary.

Red Ravens Takeover

While the War of Sisters raged, members of red ravens explored the catacombs. Through the chaos which not only spread in Vandaryen, bandits needed a new base. After a few expeditions in the unused chambers, bandits commanded by Rod Caryn began to establish an outpost in one of the greater crypts.
This outpost rapidly grewth until authories found out. But instead of shutting it down, guards helped to establish supply routes under the condition that red ravens would aid war refugees and provided shelter for nadjanish soldiers who surrendered. Queen Solia III. did not wanted to hand them over to the empress.
Trough this deal, red ravens found a forever home. Since evidences of the hideout as well as most of the entrances got destroyed, only a few people know about the secret layer under the city.

Alterations

Due to the rapidly growth of citizens, the catacombs got extended often. Moreover, the crypt of Wallyres got rebuild in a hideout with sleep places, tiny shops, a tavern and exercise rooms. All corpses and coffins were brought in a different part of the catacombs.
