Morythyl
Morythyl was an ancient artifact from a long gone civilization. Myths had assumed its burden of erasing an entire society which scholars supposed to be thousands of years old. No one really knew how the triangular shaped item functioned. Some people believed that it could be activated through a magic ritual to release a poison substance which triggered arduous hallucinations. It was concluded, considering old manuscripts, that victims got an vicious panick atttack and died afterwards from tachycardia. Over centuries philosophers tried to disclose its secrets but decades ago it vanished from Meryn without a trace.
First mentioned in a letter from a mercenary to his wife, Morythyl was seen as one of the greatest, maybe the best, achievement of its civilization and he hoped it would never been used because it could cause regrettable damage. Verified by many letters which followed, the leaders of the ancient society speculated to demonstrate its power in a war against their neighbor. Other cites mentioned a war too but claimed that it never had been used. Atleast not in that particular war...

Even if many scholars tried to fathom its mechanics no one really evaluated the functionality. But some philosphers approved that it was run by a magic crystal inside the relic. Only incomplete records of the creators told about it function.
