Sister Corana
Once there was a young woman who lived in an old convent to find peace of her mind. She attended every church fair. She prayed everyday for salvation. She even hurted herself for the god´s sake. The more the woman felt free from terrestial constraints, the more her soul demanded for inner peace. It even went so far that she changed her name and burned everything what would remember of her previous life. After that she vowed to silence and moved in an old compartment beneath the catacombs. Finally, so she thougt, could she find inner peace but as bad luck would have it, the woman was not satisfied. However, some sisters thought to hear crying every night.
Time went by, wars were fought and new women joined the convent. But the women hold on to her vow even when her three year old child drowned in a pond near the convent nearly the time when she vowed. Decades the woman spend praying for salvation. Regrettably the woman never really felt blessed. Sadly she cryed every night. Only her skin became slightly transparent and her hair snowwhite. Her mind merged with the sourronding darkness. Some say the woman went crazy. The truth was even worse.
One night when all slept and only the woman cried herself into sleep someone knocked on the door. Scared she startled because the knocking seemed to came not from the outside but from the inside of her room. She tried to look into the void. Her eyes, weakened by darkness, saw nothing but the dimmed candle light. Without warning the very same light changed its color to bright red. In the light the woman recognized a shadow. After some minutes it started to speak and asked her if she wanted to break free from all mundane. She nodded. Then the voice asked if she wanted to be reliefed from all her sins. She nodded. The shadow told her he could help her if she would enter a pact with him. Desperated she nodded. She sensed how the shadow would approach to her and held something to drink. Without doubt the woman drank.
First she felt warmth and it seemed that all sadness would vanish. Then she screamed loud. Painfully she bended her back. In rage she ran to the door. Screaming and banging she tried to unlock her. Suddenly the door unlocked and the woman ran to the bedchambers of her sisters. Midway the woman came across the kitchen where she stole a knife. Armed she followed the long corridors.
In that night blood flowed. Without hesitation the woman killed everyone. With dawn winning against darkness no one lived anymore. With the first sunrays she kneeled bloodied at the pond. For the first time of her life she felt satysfied. It did not bother her that her eyes burned because of the sun. Silence sheathed the woman when she recognized that someone stood behind her. She thanked him and asked what he had gave her to drink.
Numb the shadow answered that is was the blood of her child which she had burn without guilt. With those words the shadow pushed her head under the water. Without resisting the woman tolerated it. After some minutes her head was pulled up and a voice, sounding like her dead child, told how she should be called in the woods beyond death - Corona. After that the shadow pushed her entirely in the pond and sank with her at the bottom.
Some say that Corona never felt rest and that her spirit is creeping through the old convent. That her rageful soul would kill anyone who would cross her path. That she was damned because of her endless greed being a cenotaph for everyone else.
