Armour of Spring

There is tale in the Valley of Flowers of an ancient Greenknight whose very armour was so infused with the power of Spring that wherever she walked soon became lush with life. Made of adamantine and decorated with detailed floral etchings, it is said to be both hardy and a beautiful piece of art.

History

Long ago, when the Valley of Flowers hosted only Children of the Forest and the seed that would grown into the city of Bloom was not even yet planted, the unnamed Greenknight came searching for the secret of spring. Her future had been read to lead to great destiny, but the forest inhabitants were not amenable to human visitors. They played tricks on her to try to frighten her off, but she stood strong and called them out to face her. They were forced to oblige, and set upon her four impossible tasks to earn their trust. The first, was to stop the singing river waterfall, which she completed by convincing the beavers to help her build a damn. The second required her to learn to fly; she simply spoke to the great ravens and bartered away her sword to have the privilege. The third task needed her to bring sunlight to the darkest parts of the valley, so that the plants could flourish. She completed it by diverting the river she'd blocked earlier to it, so that the sunlight that travelled with the water reflected onto the forest floor and flowers could bloom.   The final task they faeries gave her needed her to speak each of their names, and they thought they'd had her good. But the Greenknight was perceptive, and she had already learned what they were called in exploring the forest for the previous three tasks. She named each of them and they saw true, that they could trust this woman fully. They blessed her and her armour, so that wherever she walked, she would bring the life of Spring with her.   No one knows what happened to her armour after she passed, but the woman passed onto legend and is still revered as a hero by humans and fey alike.
