Tallic's Final Stand
After half a year of marching with hundreds of refugees, harried across the whole of the Eryllian Plains by their original enemy, the Children of Woe, and also the local clans reaping vengeance for trespassing through their lands, Tallic's army, the only remnants of the Runeheim Empire, managed to trick their enemy and sacrifice themselves to save all the refugees from a gruesome fate.
The Conflict
Prelude
With the Empire fallen and leadership removed, the Runeheim army found itself cut off from their homeland and with no reason to continue the expansion. Rather than find time to rest however, they were forced to pick up arms nonetheless to defend themselves and the people of the villages on the Western side of Arhinda from the monsters named the Children of Woe.
Battlefield
While the refugees and injured and a small guard of the younger soldiers were left with orders to hasten their escape, the veterans and leaders of the army remained behind and hid themselves in the mud flats that was their worst enemy during the march. The mud proved to swap sides, for their camouflage was perfect and the army of Woe fell right into their trap. The soldiers fought bravely but fell one by one, but not without dealing such a great blow to the enemy that they were forced to retreat.
Outcome
The refugees that survived the long march lived on in Rill and were granted housing by the collection of donations from the common folk. They were evermore referred to as Tall's Pups and were proud of it, at least after a long period of recovery. One of the clans on the Eryllian plains swore itself to the cause when a call was made to take the fight to the Children of Woe as penitence for their inaction during the retreat, for they saw true honour in Tallic's actions but were too afraid to join in.
