The Seastone Spire
Accessible only by boat from the Blue Dragon's Bay on the West coast of Arhinda, this coral-covered bell tower is only partially visible when it's a particularly low tide in Autumn. The bell still rings with the occasional wave, an eerie siren's call from long ago. The monument has been lost for untold millenia, but recent mage-dives into the water find the tower surrounded by similarly styled buildings of a town beneath the waves, now inhabited by the skeletons of people repurposed into housesĀ for the schools of fish and crustaceans who make the silent village their home.
Architecture
The seastone spire (and all the other underwater buildings) were constructed of ancient concrete, with terracotta tiled roofs, and interiors were decorated with marble and granite floor tiles and stairways. Furniture had all but deteriorated by the time scholars dove in, and it was impossible to learn the materials used for them. These building blocks have stumped scholars, for the recipe of concrete was thought to only recently have been devised, and marble and granite deposits are much too far to be reasonably obtainable, especially for such a tiny settlement as this.
History
Rediscovered in Fall years ago by the first settlers in Blue Dragon's Bay, the tower has been an eccentric sight and waystone for the fishermen of the village. Only recently have archaeologists found the time and resources to delve these depths, finding dozens of small houses clustered about the tower belonging to a hitherto unknown ancient civilization. Notably, in each building the explorers uncovered still shiny obsidian spheres, and in the Seastone Tower found similar spheres but in additional colours of red, green, yellow, and blue. Some jewellery and fine china was also discovered, including an especially marvellous necklace of gold, pearls and sapphires, and a remarkably intact tea-set decorated with olive branches.
