The Many Faced Goddess of Celintha

Long before the Alyri arrived in Celintha, before they gave the islands proper names, the Koress people had carved out their way of life there. The Alyri brought their worship of the Green Mother, but found that the Koress already worshipped a figure known as the Many Faced Goddess named Tii.    According to legend the Many Faced Goddess was born among the Koress and lived to the age of 100 dispensing her wisdom to her people. When she died her likeness was carved out of white stone and it was said that her spirit resided within it. Since then the people of Celintha have chosen to worship this stone idol in hopes that the spirit within the stone will continue to lend her guidance.    Followers of Tii have no name for themselves. There is an assumption among followers that those exposed to Tii's likeness will worship her. When she is not worshipped by outsiders the followers are known to get visibly upset.    The Many Faced Goddess is thought to have influence over the weather, food production, health, fertility, boat making, the tides, and domesticity. Followers of Tii make long pilgrimages across the Shallows to her shrine at Ceva and keep smaller, carved effigies within their homes.

May the goddess guide you.
