The Patronage of Drahana
Drahana is the name written on many a bard's and playwright's heart. Known as the Goddess of Song, it is thought that she brings talent under her protection and sees that they are paid well. She is worshiped by playwrights, players, singers, instrumentalists, poets, and of course bards. Nowhere is devotion felt more for the goddess than in the city of Witsrun, where the city holds the yearly Challenge of Drahana, a festival involving talent of all kinds. Here it is the patrons that compete with one another, often fighting for the opportunity to snatch up the best talent. The patron that offers the highest price for talent is lifted to the position of Duke of Witsrun for the year, a tradition started by the city's merchant class. Followers of Drahana are known as hands and often carry staves with a bronze hand of Drahana attached at the top.
May her hands show you favor.
