Barty Langley

"Affectionately known as Bartholomew, actually we call him Pookie."
— Barty's friend

Dance with the Devil You Know

No one can quite put their finger on what it is Pookie does for a living, and when asked he has a tendency to respond with "Oh, you must get tired of hearing all about it!" despite rarely discussing it. Rumours have spun every tale from him being a dockworker to being an undercover assassin for the druids under the ocean.   Whatever the case, his physique suggests intensive labour, the way he carries himself suggests a man of means, and his eloquence suggests that he is, in fact, not an utter doorknob. While many people find Pookie to be rather charming, there is a roughly equal amount of people who find him insufferable, a force of ego, almost like playing a confidence game.

The Management of Mischief

To those with trained eyes, you may just spot slight traces of illusion magicks covering some parts of Pookie's form. If the topic of that illusion magic comes to a conversation, much like those about his work, he glosses right over it, skating along as if it was never even mentioned.   The few who have tried to find out where Pookie works have been led in circles, with him switching the path he takes on a whim, turning down this alley and that alley, all seemingly in a bumbling along manner while managing to distract and confuse anyone on his tail.   When out of sight and truly alone, Pookie is free to be his true self, an image that no one alive has ever seen. Not to say that he murders people, though there's really no way of knowing whether or not he has, but just that he prefers his privacy and it comes with the cost of being how he is in public.   Unbeknownst to most people in the cities where he travels, Pookie plays small games on people and is constantly finding new ways of pranking them. Nothing more than tricking them into losing a coin or twelve, or putting them in a very silly situation, such as having to wear a bucket of live fish on their head for a day without spilling a single one.
