Basilisk

"You do realize they turn people to stone, right?"
"Look, I'm not saying I want one as a pet, I'm just saying that it's neat they make garden ornaments."
"Garden ornaments? What are you talking abou- THOSE ARE PEOPLE, HENRY!"
— Henry and his friend, who is disappointed with Henry's opinion

Stony Gaze

The basilisk's form is a spectacle of nature's intricate design. While it lacks the wings of its dragon kin, it compensates with a sinuous grace that belies its formidable strength. Its body, elongated and powerful, coils and uncoils with a fluidity that is hypnotic to behold. The creature's head, crowned with a row of jagged horns, bears the unmistakable mark of draconic heritage, yet its slitted eyes and forked tongue betray its serpentine nature.   This creature moves with a silence that is unsettling, its presence felt more as a whisper of dread than a sound. It navigates its realm with a predatory intelligence, its serpentine agility allowing it to ambush prey and foe alike. The basilisk's long, coiling tail can strike with the force of a battering ram, while its fangs, dripping with venom, promise a swift end. Their slitted eyes glow like molten gold, holding an intense fire within them capable of rendering their prey into nothing more than a statue.

Slithering Gait

Basilisks can live deep in the rocks of broken mountains, or in the shallow vales of ancient forests. They live nowhere long, the frozen remains of their prey scattered across their domain making prey wary over time.   Those who seek out the basilisk do so at great peril, for it is a creature that does not forgive trespass. Yet, for all its ferocity, there is a majesty to the basilisk that cannot be denied. It is a living testament to the power of the ancient world, a reminder of what lurks in the shadows of legend. Their existence is a riddle, their creation is a mystery, they simply are.

THOSE ARE PEOPLE, HENRY.   I would love to see a basilisk from a safe distance. They sound rather glorious to behold.
