The Comprehensive Codex of Cookiecraft

"Henry, you bloody slowpoke, get over here! Look at this book I just got!"
"What in the balls are you on about, Jaxon?"
"Look at this cookbook!"
"My gods..."
— Jaxon, who recently bought a copy of the Codex of Cookiecraft, and their friend Henry

Secrets of Sweet Success

Though one might assume that the creation and publication of a cookie cookbook would be less than earth-shattering, they would be mistaken. The Comprehensive Codex of Cookiecraft was no mere cookie cookbook when it was released to the public, it was the only cookie cookbook that not only shared several dozens of recipes and detailed instructions within it, but was also generally affordable and purely utilized ingredients readily available in most areas of the Eight Lands.   Previously, no cookbook, cookie or otherwise, made sure that all the ingredients were readily available. Many even relied upon the rarity of the ingredients to try to eke out a touch of exclusivity to the book, something that ultimately limited the audience for them.   That single guarantee of availability is what has kept the Codex of Cookiecraft in demand long after its publication run has ended.

Creation of Cookie Companions

Despite its popularity, the author of the Codex is unknown. The cookbook itself holds no reference to an author beyond the occasional anecdote nestled in its pages, and the book itself is fairly plain with a simple waxed cloth cover and the title carefully stamped onto the front.   Many speculate as to the author of the Codex; with some believing them to be an eccentric lord or lady who simply wished to share something they enjoy with the world, while others believe that the author must be some famous baker in some part of the Eight Lands.   It's unclear as to whether the mystery of the author adds to the reputation of the Codex, however it certainly doesn't appear to detract from it, with the publisher receiving many letters each year to either print more copies or ask why it went out of print. The publisher has never responded to a single letter on either subject.

Very sweet! I like it!   (by the way you may want to look at the names in the intro quote - it sounds like Jaxon bought the book?)

An amazingly sweet (no pun intended) response to this prompt. I love that the fact it did not exclude people was the reason it had such an impact.   Also I really want cookies now.

Where do I buy a copy? Seriously, tell me where to send the money! I love this so much, especially that care was taken to make sure the recipes only use ingredient that are readily available.

I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it! I wish it was real as well, it feels like it'd be quickly well worn and have every opportunity to utilize it be taken.

As long as the Cookie Monster doesn't eat the book!

As long as the book isn't made out of cookies, I suppose the Cookie Monster would leave it be :P

I went in thinking it would be super exclusive, but it's actually the cookbook of the masses! Great turnaround there!
