Protectorate Marshalls

The Marshalls are the closest thing The Protectorate has to a centralised law enforcement arm. Individual Marshalls are charged to:

• Keep the peace
• Protect the people
• Preserve the Protectorate

They're issued a badge, a blaster and sometimes a starship, and sent out to act largely independently. They're not a navy, but sometimes they're the closest thing to one that's available. They might arrest thieves, fight pirates, or deter incursions by the Corporate Sector or Empire. Protectorate stations are required to sell them fuel and supplies cheaply, and any ships they confiscate may be purchased back by the government.
The Marshalls can expect a widely varied reception across the stations and worlds of the Protectorate - sometimes welcomed, often resented. It's a thankless life.
