Broth Lomas Takes Belize Kilgaard Hostage

You are gathering yourself as you stand before the smoldering wreckage of the castle of Port Androt. The high seat of the nation of Androtia has been completely decimated. As you stand up and dust yourself off, night is falling. There is a moment of odd quiet as you watch the ruins of the castle burn and smolder into the dusk air. As your ear’s stop ringing from the blast the sounds of the chaos of the riot returns. You quickly notice that the riots have erupted into all out chaos, there is mass fighting in the streets. Around the exploded castle you see bodies in the rubble and leaning against the buildings nearby, those who were not lucky enough to have cleared the blast in time or avoided the attacks of the rioters as the castle exploded. Despite the chaos around you, there is an odd calm in this moment, you all stand there stunned.
Having just witnessed the rebirth of Citri, a Chaos Demon, a child of Khyber, you take a moment to acknowledge the pure evil that was just released on the world. There would be consequences for allowing Citri her freedom from the spell that Gamal had imprisoned her with.
The riots are ramping up now, and you might be thinking that inciting this much violence was not necessarily the right and noble cause. People are dying all around you and the Port Raiders are turning to all out violence along with the other factions involved. In fact the chaos here is so intense that you can hardly tell who is on what side through the smoke and haze of the city streets as more buildings burst into flame on the surrounding blocks.
Over the din and roar of the battle in the streets you have a moment to catch up and make a plan:
Player’s will decide to make their way to Belize and the Raiders Hideout.
When the players arrive the Raider’s Hideout is ablaze with celebration. The raiders in the town are celebrating as you see a dias being raised in the town square. The Raiders are all congregating towards the central platform. You see Broth Lomas on the dias towering above the crowd.
In chains next to him you see Belize Kilgaard, trembling, caked in dirt and blood. She looks terrified.
Broth’s voice booms out over the crowd. “Today is a momentous day. Today is the day we bring down the monarchy that rules over this city once and for all. Today is the day we have destroyed the Throne of Androtia, we have brought down it’s defenses, the king is missing, presumed dead, and the streets are ours!”
The crowd goes wild for this news.
Broth continues “Even right now we hold the Centre Commercial hostage, and we are advancing on Drifter’s Drudges Tower. Tonight we will end Belaid Chabane and his rule over us and then we advance on the House of Bjornn.”
The crowd continues to cheer.
“But before all that, we have with us a very special guest. We have with us the master of coin, the Belize Kilgaard. The same Belize Kilgaard that sent tax collectors to beat and steal from our most needy, the same Belize Kilgaard that rules over the finances of this city, the same Belize Kilgaard who made the budget decisions that prioritized the nobility over the working class, time and time again. Tonight she will also pay for her crimes! Give her a warm welcome Raiders!”
The Raiders boo and start throwing trash at Belize.
Broth raises his arms calling for silence. “Belize Kilgaard, for your crimes against the people of Androita, for conspiring to murder the poor, for perpetuating capitalism and exploiting the weakest of our societies for your own gain, I, Broth Lomas, sword defender of the people of port androt sentence you to death.”
As you push your way to the front of the crowd Broth spies you, he says:
“Ahhh! The heroes of the hour, everyone, please welcome the Heroes of the Apsulian Sea! Without their work, we never would have had the opportunity to destroy the castle and capture Belize. For those of you that don’t know, these adventurers helped us destabilize the house of Bjornn by robbing them of all of their magical artifacts. They also helped us plan and gain access to the castle to plant the explosives and revealed Theodore Sharpe for his true identity as the Chaos Demon Citri. Additionally they killed King Pierre, deposing the throne and clearing an easy path for us to take the city. Before we get on with the execution, is there anything you would like to say?”
Give the players a chance to talk to the crowd or enact a plan.
The players will be making a decision to try to get Broth to agree to allow Belize to be kept alive for the sake of the council. Tell him that all of the emissaries from each region are coming and that the full force of the androtian navy is coming. Convince him that killing Belize would not be in his best interest and that if he cooperates you could secure him a seat at the table in the coming conversations about the restructuring of the city.
