Bloodmagic
Access & Availability
Bloodmagic is used commonly in Yazatix by the sacrificial priests, but it was limited to only the shah's sorcerers in Nealephari, for the shah feared a rival nation would learn of their power and use it themselves against the Sumiir. However, after the bloodmagic disaster that killed most of the royal family and House Nakkha, bloodmagic was banned from all of Sumiir and its practitioners executed. Though some bloodcasters remained in Nakun and escaped death, the practice was lost in its entirety to the Sumiir when the Jokanen Empire fell.
Complexity
Bloodmagic requires the discovery and mastery of divine magic before one can hope to cast a bloodspell. It also requires much experimentation to maximize the spell output for the input of blood and life force. It is a complex and subtle endeavor, and no one in the history of Quiloriel has ever even dreamed of its full potential. Years of study are required to even understand the basic principles, as tinkering with spells using the life force as fuel is as dangerous as it is rewarding.
Discovery
Bloodmagic was first discovered in Yazatix, by the sacrificial priests. It was later discovered independently in Nealephari by Eilum Jehra, one of the current Sumiir shah's sorcerers. He was experimenting with how spells often worked better with an animal or blood sacrifice beforehand.
