Ishlara
The lily in the lake of the sky
Ishlara is the largest moon of Quiloriel. It is often used for lunar calendars, as it's predictable 30-day cycle lines up well with L'anamma's 10-day cycle to create a month of thirty days, with each week being ten days. This is obvious in the Siemnan lunar calendar.
Folklore surrounding Ishlara varies across the world, with some identifying it with a rabbit, a white cat, or even a pond lily. A popular story in Nakun dictates that the moon is the pet cat of the sun, spinning and chasing the stars across the night sky. Others believe it is a lily flower, drifting across the lake of stars in the sky. Either way, it is undoubtably shrouded in mystery like the other celestial bodies, because they appear to rise and set in the Night Lands, the endless clouds of darkness that some scholars theorize is actually an extradimensional space separating Quiloriel from other manifestations of the Material Plane.
In any case, not much is known by anyone about the true nature of Ishlara, or any of the five moons. It may only be possible to glean information from the mouths of gods, genies, angels, or demons alike. Some scholars believe it might actually be another habitable place, with its own plants, animals, and magical laws. In that case, will mortals in Quiloriel ever really know what is up there in the sky? For now, mortals will have to rely on folklore, myth, and legend about this mysterious, unreachable orb floating in the night sky.
If Ishlara actually does have its own habitable surface, what might lie on there? Suggestions range from the ordinary to pure speculation. Some think it might be entirely covered in magical moon-water infused with healing properties. In that case, there could be smaller waterlilies and aquatic plants and animals on the giant waterlily floating through the sky. Others believe it it a palace forged out of silver by celestial dwarves. No one really knows if there is anything there, or even how it rises and sets in the Night Lands.
