Siemnan Lunar/Seasonal Calendar

The calendar of crops, the moons, and the common folk

The Siemnan Lunar/Seasonal calendar was originally invented by the farmers and common people of Siemna to count time for harvest dates, festivals, and almanacs. It ended up being widely used across the Orin Coast and even all over Nakun as a simple, easy to remember calendar to use for the common folk, while the nobles and barons often use the more complicated Ikhu and Argandorian calendars.   It has a ten-day week, with each month having thirty days except for the midsummer month of Yajakthis, a later addition to be consistent with the solar calendar. The month cycles are based on the thirty and fifteen-day cycles of Ishlara and Piksa, two of Quiloriel's moons, respectively. The ten-day week is also based on the ten-day cycle of another moon, L'anamma.   Elves and other races often use this calendar while among humans, making it useful for diplomacy and agreed dates.
