Only three male dragons remain in existence in the entire world, and they are under the control of the Avada dynasty in the city of Exziliver. All the female dragons have died off, leaving a concerning problem that dragons will go extinct. In an effort to make his city and army more powerful and to recreate 'children' of the half-dragon, half-human Goddess, Arkenna, King Kazan orders for an unconventional breeding program between dragons and humans to be put into place. After efforts of artificial insemination failed, they take to more barbaric, animalistic breeding measures.   Sixteen years after the breeding experiments, Sai is now a teenager. He is a part of the secret group known as the 'young guardians'. There are about twelve teenage dragonborn hybrids that the King is raising and training to help out his army during the current war, and about twenty younger ones between the ages of five and ten. Nobody in the city knows about them and they are kept in hiding, heavily restrained and guarded and away from everything.   Xylo, one of the young guardians, goes rogue during a training session and kills off every single dragonborn except Sai. Sai manages to get away. After his escape, however, he learns that Xylo has assassinated the king as well. Badly wounded and unsure if he will survive, he hides in the cover of the forest and awaits death.   Xylo and Eris, another young guardian that goes rogue, team up and join a radical religious sect known as the Hidden Knobu. They are a group of cannibalistic mages that worship dragons. They view Xylo and Eris as gods. They realize that Eris is pregnant with Xylo's child and they take them into hiding to protect them.   The realm learns of the king's murder, and civil war breaks out due to there being no known heir. The great city of Exziliver falls and becomes a savage war zone. They learn of the dragonborn children and half of the nation supports them and views them as gods, while the other half is disgusted and wants to wipe them out. Sai stays in hiding and is eventually found by the lone traveler, Androrora. Androrora is a blood mage and uses her magic to heal Sai. Sai is shocked, for magic is outlawed in the western nations.   Sai learns of the eastern nation of Kivh across the Fresian Sea. Androrora explains about her people and says that she is searching for the messiah sent by the gods that will save them from dark forces.   Kivh is an eastern nation home to the cannibalistic blood mage tribal people, known as the Fih. Little is known about their culture and lands by the western people. They are referred to as 'savages' and most westerners steer clear of their country for fear of the blood magic and cannibalism. Androrora explains that they worship dragons and she believes that Sai was sent by the gods, since he is half dragon. She believes that he is here to save her people. She convinces him to travel across the Fresian Sea over to her home country of Kivh. Sai agrees.
