Class Description

Introduction to Religious Studies

Gain a foundational understanding of religious studies as an academic discipline, exploring its history, theories, and methodologies. Examine the significance of religious diversity and its impact on individuals and communities.  

Comparative Religious Analysis

Analyze and compare major religions, including their beliefs, rituals, and sacred texts. Engage in critical discussions on the similarities, differences, and shared ethical principles across religious traditions.  

Ethical Teachings and Moral Systems

Explore the ethical teachings within different religious frameworks, examining their moral systems and principles. Investigate how religious values shape ethical decision-making and guide individual and collective behavior.  

Religious Rituals and Practices

Investigate the role of rituals and practices in religious traditions, examining their significance, symbolism, and transformative aspects. Reflect on the ways rituals foster community cohesion and personal spiritual growth.  

Religion and Society

Examine the relationship between religion and society, exploring how religious beliefs and institutions influence social structures, power dynamics, and social justice issues. Discuss the impact of religious ideologies on gender, race, and socio-political movements.  

Contemporary Religious Issues
