Oksana Vitalin
Oksana Vitalin was the ship's gunner aboard the Sea Star. After a childhood on Typhon, she answered a "looking for crew" listing on the Tidal Network boards made by Benjamin Irving, who was gathering friends and interested parties to form a freebooter crew to take advantage of the Zephyr Corp's franchise opportunity loan program. The group was successful in obtaining a ship's loan.
While in metaspace en route to Erato, the Sea Star was boarded by a group of shadow entities. Already dealing with a crisis as the ship had just been blown into a metastorm that should not have been present according to their rutter, the crew was taken by suprise. Oksana fought bravely in an attempt to protect her friends and crew mates, making her way toward the bridge, where the pilot was being attacked. Despite her efforts, the crew was quickly overrun. Most of them were killed immediately, however Oksana and the captain, Benjamin Irving were captured alive.
Oksana and Ben were taken to the uninhabited Keres system, where they were taken to the old Project Keyhole base, which had been taken over by more of the shadow entities, including a large entity that had taken up residence in what had been the recreation center of the base. This entity fed off of psychic energy, and as psychics, Oksana and Ben were taken to its lair and hung up on the walls to serve as a food source for this being. Being a Wild Psychic, Oksana was completely drained off her psychic powers at a faster rate than her full psychic friend and captain. She died a few days before the arrival of the PCs at the base, of a combination of injuries she suffered during the initial attack, dehydration/starvation/hypothermia, and being drained of her psychic energy.
