Chronicle of the Illithid Wars
This is a large stone carving that takes up a whole wall in the archives. It shows tentacled creatures riding from the south of a great river riding flying whales, chasing depictions of very small humanoids. It then shows a crow being cut in half with a tentacled city, likewise being ridden by the tentacled creatures. It shows giants near a mountain being turned into giant tentacle monsters, whilst elf like humanoidss ride from the north to join three distinct giants, one with a bird on their shoulder, one with their hands together and pointing down, and one seemingly casting a spell. The next panel shows great battles between the tentacled creatures and these elves and three giants. Beneath it, the city depicted earlier sinks into the ground, being pulled by a humanoid with strange apendiges and a large central eye. The final panel shows the giants and elves winning by shattering the earth and throwing the tentacled creatures into the pit, whilst water pours in after them between a forest and a mountain.
Purpose
This artistic mural seemed to be a replication of earlier murals celebrating the end of a famous period of wars against creatures that strongly resemble mind flayers, the creatures responsible for the enslavement of Gazzarit in the 990s.
