House Maidenwing

A noble house originating from the river settlement of Sifsby in the northern hold, the Maidenwings are a matriarchal house led by devotees of Sif and known for their religious zeal and combat abilities. Dating back to the early second age, the Maidenwings were a minor house of warriors and fighters who founded their home of Vinghelm and ruled as thanes under Wintershield rulership. Their home was destroyed during the Great Interregnum and the house moved with other homesteaders and minor hosues to build the town of Sifsby where they became prominent protectors of the new settlement.
Considered loyal to the Bear Clan, the Maidenwing's positioning on a potential wintershield rebellion against the Vilderfolken usuprers of the northern hold remain unknown but according to Jarl Earling Horfhand they are likely to stay true to the Bear Clan due to their reliance on them for trade.
At King Haardrada's feast in Duskfall 1052, 3e, Thane Leffa Maidenwing was in attenance but remained neutral on all the events taking place - providing little insight into her house or history.

Symbolism

The Maidenwing's use a Valkeryrie's arm clutching a sword on a purple sheild with an indigo background as their house symbol. The symbol comes from their devotion to battle, showing the sword of sif and the aedrinaran 'angels' of death refelcting their house's devotion to faith and battle.
