Treaty of the Groves
IN THE FOREST OF THE OLD GODS, AGEROTH II, SON OF JUNTHAR, JUNTHAR WHO WAS SON OF AGEROTH I, DID MEET THE ELDERS OF FEY AND SHADOW. AGEROTH THE SECOND OF HIS NAME, WAS GREAT OF WIT AND CUNNING. THE OLD GODS DID THINK THEY COULD OUTPACE HIM, AND IN A GAME OF TRICKERY AND WORDPLAY, THE GODS DID CONCEDE TO HIM, HUMBLED BY THE MIGHT OF THE JOTUN. IN RETURN, KROWETHIA WAS PROMISED THE LANDS NORTH OF THEIR FOREST, SOUTH OF THE FINN RIVER, AND WEST OF THE LANDS OF SARGOTH, FROM THE DAWU TO THE BROKEN PEAKS. A PACT WAS MADE BETWEEN DIVINE AND MIGHTY, WHERE NO HUMAN OF THIS LAND WOULD BEND THE KNEE, AND LIVE IN SOLITUDE IN THEIR HILLS AND FORESTS IN PEACE. AGEROTH, WISE AND KIND, DID SWEAR HE AND ALL HIS DECENDENTS WOULD HONOUR THIS PACT, AND SO KROWETHIA DID GROW GREAT AND STRONG.
Purpose
This recounts the Krowethic version of the Gwenyddian legend around the treaty of the groves, an agreement between the gods of the humans of ancient Cape County and Gwenydd and the giant overlords. This version empahsises the shrewdness of Ageroth II, whereas the traditional Gwenyddian legend acts as a warning to not interfere with the devout followers of the honoured gods. The breaking of this pact is what ultimately led to the downfall of giant civilization in continental Prima Terra.
This document also shows the earliest form of Giant naming protocol, stating all your predacessors. Since temporal linearlity was relatively new and giants had a long life span, this probably seemed like a suitable form of naming at the time.
