The Tishinim (Tish-in-em)
The Tishinim are a group of people whose main goal is to maintain the population of the world through whatever means necessary. The reason is they follow the doctrine of Tishnia, the Balancer. A goddess once revered for equality, more recent worship has twisted her guidelines to become more extreme. The followers think that for every life given, a life must end. For every house made, one must fall. All must be equal for equilibrium to exist. Evil must survive so that Good must survive. Initially, actions consisted of brutish and primitive methods, killing to keep population down, robbing of wealth to give to the poor. But then a change in leadership saw the organization grow more sophisticated. Gone were the days of midnight killings, and daytime plundering. Now, calculated assassinations and government spies were planted. Houses no longer mattered when they could topple cities, pushing war upon people and cycling through stages of riots, plague, and civil unrest.
What started out as a simple goal of a misguided principal turned into an international organization with critics around the globe.
However, not everyone opposes this group. Some argue that overpopulation is a threat. With prosperity, people flourish and crowd the resources. Gone are the days of magic where anything could be made after the Gods pulled back.
This alternative way of following Tishnia has created a rift in both the Pantheon as well as with the people. Tishnia represents Equality, but not by bring harm or ill will towards others. Instead, her goals are to elevate others out of the low points and bring all to prosperity. While some may get rich, her goal is to have the wealth go to benefit others or the community. Everything should find a repurpose and everything does have a balance, until it starts to break the balance. That’s when she steps in, to guide towards a peaceful resolution.
She is appalled by her “followers” actions, and that they praise her name after every conflict and killing. Her power grows but not in the way intended.
The Pantheon thinks she’s trying to assume more titles, the God of War or Goddess of Death.
The mortals believe her to be an evil god, uncaring and unsupportive to all except her devout followers.
In truth, she is thrust into the spotlight for the wrong reasons, and with the negative reputation she has, can she ever prove her innocence and break the corrupted followers? Or will she succumb to the power that grows with every prayer and worship?
