Irontooth Mountains

The peaks of this mountain range stretch above the clouds. The Irontooth Mountains are formed by the convergence of three tectonic plates and is the largest mountain range in all of Rak'she. The plentiful iron ore and the native hoard of giantkin give their name to the Irontooth Mountains. The Dwarves of Durim, Giants of Musheim and the people of Sorib all share a border along the mountain range. The city of Kairn K'thall was a dwarven stronghold before it was sacked by the Musheim Coalition and is now a contended city and lies in the middle of the mountain range.

Geography

The craggy mountains are dangerous due to the shifting tectonic plates with frequent rock slides and cave-ins happening on even the most traveled paths. Forgotten mines and use of newly discovered black powder only exacerbate these hazards. When there is enough soil, tough evergreen trees grow like spears towards the sun. Harsh cold winds originate from the glaciers and snow cap that top these mountains.   Despite the rugged and dangerous terrain, beauty can be found in its frigid lakes, fresh streams of glacial water, stunning sunrises and sunsets that stain the white snow orange and pink.

Fauna & Flora

All forms of giants have lived in the Irontooth Mountains. A recent introduction would be the fire newts and salamanders who are usually only found near volcanoes. While there are no active volcanoes in the range, there are several dormant ones that may facilitate these creatures required habitats. Thunderbirds make their nests on the highest peaks of these mountains. The underground caverns are thought to be the origin of the race of Glypdonians, but with their historical tests destroyed, no one can confirm this.   There are a few unique inhabitants of the Irontooth Mountains. The Saehrimnir Boar, a gargantuan boar rumored to be associated with the titans that cannot die. Sliabh the Immense, one of the three Troll Brothers is said to be the largest Troll in existence as well as sharing the brothers above average intelligence. Gromadny Burya the king of the Titans was last spotted in these Mountains and it is the only place he could hide from sight due to his titanic size, rivaling that of a mountain himself.

Natural Resources

Iron ore is the namesake and most abundant resource found in the Irontooth Mountains. Other precious metals and gems can be found here including gold, silver, tin, copper, zinc, emeralds, sapphires, ruby's and diamonds. Due to the great expanse of the mountains someone could mine for decades in one area and not find anything only for someone to strike a rich vein a few miles away.   Other resources include a variety of stone such as granite and marble, as well as being a source of pine and cedar trees.
