Draconic Pantheon

Beyond mortality, the fearsome beasts of godly might.

Structure

The draconic hierarchy is very strictly enforced. Bahamut rules as a god of life and bravery, whereas Tiamat is the god of ambition and cunning. These gods both rule as polar opposites of one another, and in their never-ending feud, recruit fellow dragons to engage in affairs that suit their needs. These subordinate gods are considered Saints to their benefactor, and are endowed power from their benefactor to use of their own accord.   Given that all dragons are independent, although Bahamut and Tiamat are the most powerful beings that have attained godhood, it is the Saints that often are the more proactive. Each can use their power as they choose; some will enhance their power to serve their own needs, while others will strengthen their power for their master. These gods and their saints go on to recruit followers, who are meant to worship them, either through fear or reverence, thus making the cycle cyclical for the dragons.   Related, Alexander - a third draconic god - was the god of alliance and faithfulness, but was slain millennia ago. Although he was powerful and revered equally to that of Bahamut and Tiamat, his lack of existence has made his good name fall out of favor.

Mythology & Lore

It was said, long before mortals roamed the realm in their pitifulness, the world was smote in fire and ruin. From that first and ruin borne two dragons: Bahamut and Tiamat. Although both loved each other greatly, each cherished the fire deeply, wanting nothing more but to have it for themselves. And thus their rivalry began, as they both vied for power and domination of the First Flame. The two fought tirelessly over the terrorized realms, and their fire birthed the dragons of the world. Bahamut and Tiamat raised their armies of dragons to fight in their endless war for the First Flame, but it was all for naught. In time, the two were cocooned in a realm far away to play their war-games amongst themselves, never to see the light of a lawful realm ever again.

Divine Origins

Draconic religions spawn from the very real existence of dragons and their own society. Dragons operate on a strict sense of independence but also observance of hierarchy, based on strength, age, and nobility. Thus, those who are the strongest, oldest, and most noble are deified, and through that belief, they grow power. The only exceptions to these rules are Bahamut and Tiamat specifically, which are said to have been born with godly strength.

Cosmological Views

The Draconic pantheon accepts the existence of the gods of Rakuen. Specifically, dragons accept The Vestiges to be real and valid, and although worship is often not granted to them, belief and respect is. More broadly, dragons accept scientific reasoning for the world and its many lifeform's existences. The world is built of material of the multiverse, the creates of it evolved to walk this earth in their various forms, and dragons lord over all of this as rightful keepers of the dominion, given their size, strength, and scope of action. The draconic gods themselves are not special beings, beyond the powers they've garnered of their own strength and volition, and they do not shape the world around them except through might, fear, and fire.
