Void
Why on Earth would I 'look into the void?' she thought to herself. Who would even say that? I mean, by definition isn't the void limitless and empty? I think that may be the actual definition of 'void' so why would I look into it? She considered the door before where she had been told she could examine said void. Nope. No way. I don't want to look into the void. You hear tales all the time about people who look into the void and lose their minds. I'm already not sure I have a good grasp on my mind, I am positive I don't really want to lose what grip I have on it. Nope. Not gonna look. And yet, she kept finding her eyes drawn to the door.
It was a perfectly serviceable door. It looked to be solid wood. It had two rectangular panels with inset floral patterns surrounding them. The knob had the appearance of a faceted glass ball. The hinges were a deep forest green. It didn't have a peephole. Hm. A peephole. That might have made her more likely to open the door. I mean, if she could be sure that there was only the void on the other side. If she could have the door between her and the void and still see it she would feel more confident that she wouldn't lose her mind. I mean, she'd have something solid, like a shield for her sanity.
But here she was in a room with only one door and that, apparently, led to the void. She didn't want to go into the void, or even see the void. How did she get here? How did this even happen to someone in real life anyway? She thought back on waking up in this room. The bed was hers. The walls were painted the light blue she loved. That was her dresser. Those were her books on the shelf. That was her window [and it was just as stuck as she remembered it]. And yet that was most definitely not her door. Her door had been a plain white door with a boring doorknob and normal hinges.
She was getting hungry. She needed to use the toilet and brush her teeth and shower. She needed to get to classes. This simply wouldn't do. She was going to have to go out even if it was the void on the other side. She braced herself, threw open the door with her eyes closed and passed through.
Almost like Cthulhu... in a weird way.
LOL Thank you. I will take that as a compliment. :)
Believe me, it is.
