Herbert of Araluen

King Herbert of Araluen (a.k.a. The Father of Modern Araluen)

Around 490 CE, the Scotti ruled what would become Norgate, Caraway and several other northern fiefs. When the Scotti attacked Araluen, King Herbert started a long war against the Scotti. He bounded Araluen and it's neighbors together into a powerful union to defeat the clans and at the end, King Herbert drove the northern clans over the border into the Highlands and back to Picta. Then he separated the newborn Kingdom of Araluen into 50 fiefs, each ruled by a baron.
