Paupa

Paupa combs the streets and back alleys of Precinct Six for bodies. He owns a rickety cart on which he throws his findings. A bell is bound to the cart and announces his arrival to the neighborhood. Some people throw out their dead then, others ask Paupa to check especially odorant apartments for fat prey.   He wears dark robes and several amulets that ward him against sickness. Among many superstitious and useless wards like chicken feet, there is an actual periapt of health. Paupa also covers his face in ash and lard to foster his image—he wants people to recognize him immediately.     Sometimes, he finds interesting items on the corpses, which he sells when he is making the rounds.
