Selesnya Tree Homes
Challenged to provide for their growing populace without harming the world around them, the Selesnya Conclave chose to use the many trees in their precinct to provide shelter and care. Taking inspiration from the many creatures who make the trees their homes, the Conclave put their great mages to the task of weaving together the living branches into structures that are suitable for many different races. In the Third Precinct you will find a towering forest of trees, and the people who live amongst them.
Purpose / Function
To preserve the natural landscape of Precinct Three, while providing safe and efficient housing for both citizens and creatures. Keeping the conclave connected through the power of natural energy, the Selesnya Tree Homes enables the Guild to solve the issue of overcrowding in the Precincts, without polluting or destroying the natural world.
Entries
Very open in design, there are many openings to the outside world, although only one door is designated as the entrance. Still, it is not uncommon to find someone descending through the floor, or climbing out the ceiling to speak to their neighbor. The Tree Homes of the Selesnya Conclave are a close knit community of families who are brought together by their shared love of nature and their passion to protect it.
Sensory & Appearance
Lit by the light of the sun, and heated by its warmth, a Selesya Tree Home is a place of comfort and peace. Colored in the greens and whites attributed to the Conclave, a sense of serenity is infused through out the home. Special panels woven throughout the fabric, which are then crafted into the walls of the home, are used to catch the light and warmth of the sun during the day, and glow softly at night. When one wishes to sleep, or darken their home during the summer months, a secondary fabric is draped over the first which blocks out the light and heat. This way one, by blocking out a specific number of panels, one can perfectly control the light and heat let off during the different times of the year.
Architecture
An open roofed buildings that, through the use of magic, weaves the trees own living branches together to make the walls and floors which are enforced and protected by fabric specially treated to stand against the elements. All trees are connected by a rope highway that stretches from one tree to the next. Citizens from other parts of the District are often confused when attempting to navigate the tree city, due to the vertical nature of the housing.
