No More Waiting

As Caznia and Nightsilk are in quiet discussion in Caznia's domicile, Slate Eyes enters. She moves toward the two women, glances over to the body of Igito laying on one of Caz's specimen tables and then back to her two advisors.   After a moment, Slate Eyes says in a whisper, "I want the Eye. Now."   Caznia and Nightsilk share a look, but before they can speak Slate Eyes adds, "No more excuses. No more testing. We are out of time. Our enemies are moving against us." She strides toward them.   Caznia moves to intercept Slate Eyes and says, "He was found on the surface, in precinct four and close to the Red Wastes. It is quite possible that he triggered an Izzet trap, ran into some Rakdos cultists or -"   "Or Mysst sent an assassin to kill him and leave his body in the Overcity to throw us off," Slate Eyes says. "We won't know until I use the Eye."   "There is another way. One Nightsilk and I were just discussing. One that will ensure that we know what to channel the power of the Eye toward," Caznia replied.   "We dare not waste any more time. Why do you deny me Caznia?" Slate Eyes whispers.   "I am cautious, Nesiss. I don't want to imperil your mind and will to a thing that is steeped in the magic of another world. We must use the tools we have first," Caznia replies.   Nightsilk nods and adds, "Igito can tell us what happened to him. It is a potent spell and one that will pull power from Caznia and I. But it will give us more information. It is quite possible the fool tampered with something or someone he shouldn't have. We should know before we use other resources that may prove vital elsewhere."   Slate Eyes remains impassive, like the very statues she surrounds herself with. When she speaks her words hold no warmth, "And what of the leaking tunnels. You've done your best to keep that from me, but I've heard... I've seen them. Are you telling me that Mysst isn't behind that?"   "We don't know," Caznia says. "That is the problem. We need more information."   Slate Eyes moves close to Caznia and they lock eyes, "We have the tool. The Eye. Let me wield it and all our enemies plans will be revealed."   "Or you are shown what that creature from another world wants you to see." Nightsilk interjects. "Give Caznia three more days to ensure you are safe using it. We will speak with Igito and find out what we can from him."   Slate Eyes turns her gaze from Caznia who relaxes slightly, "Elga, your wisdom is appreciated. Speak with the lizard folk, and determine if Mysst was involved. I want answers and the Eye in three days." She glares at both of them and then leaves.   "I'm growing tired of her paranoia," Caznia says after a moment. "It doesn't matter what we tell her, she is determined to blame Mysst."   Nightsilk nods, "We must protect her from herself for as long as we can. Then we must be ready to act to preserve the safety of the Network."   Caznia scowls, "I know." Then after a moment, "She isn't wrong. Our enemies are moving against us. The longer we take, the more time they have to act. Those tunnels..."   "Then let us prepare to speak with Igito and see if we have more enemies, or just a silly fool who got himself killed."
