The Ornate Way

In a long forgotten age, an enormous palace was buried below the surface of Ravnica. Layers upon layers of city were built on top of it, eventually turning this massive estate into a part of the undercity. The Golgari came upon it, and called it The Ornate Way, because of the endless carvings, statues and bas reliefs found in the area. Eventually the place became known for its oddities as strange fumes circulated the area, and animals and plants grew in bizarre ways.
During the great uprising against the three gorgon sisters, one of them turned the Ornate Way into her personal domain and hunting ground, adding to the already dense statues. When the Golgari finally confronted her, it was in the Menagerie of the Dead . She perished there, but took many Golgari warriors with her.
After the battle, the dead did not rest quite in the Ornate Way, and so it became a place avoided by all but the most intrepid explorers. Many have journeyed from the Necrose Network into its twisting structures, but few have returned. Rumors abound that the Gorgon's spirit still dwells there, warping the bodies and minds of any who dare enter her domain.
