Soul Severance

“Mother of Spirts, heed my call. I, Mortis, call upon your gaze at this time. Mother of Raven, heed my call. I, Acolyte of Life and Death, call upon your feathers. Mother of Fate, heed my call. I, threadbare, seek the power of severance. A soul displaced now seeks rest. A soul displeased now seeks peace. A soul shrouded in darkness now seeks light. I lay claim to be its harbinger. I shall ferry its soul into your embrace Mother. Embrace it as you must till the divines harkens it. May the Mother preserve your memories in Her palace. May your tolls be paid to the Reaper. May you hear no summons for return. May you not smell the scents of damnation. May your life come to its conclusion. Remember to die.”   ~ Mortis, Acolyte of Life and Death

History

During the Age of War Gods and Goddesses alike walked on Aedran searching for the Last Spark. This resulted in conflict amongst them which rallied their mortal followers to fight in their name. When the mortals died, they would have previously gone to the divine realm of the divinity they held in the highest esteem, but due to the war the souls lingered in the material plane due to the presence of the God or Goddess they worshipped. The followers of Morrigan crafted this ritual to cause the involuntary severance of the soul from the body causing the soul to depart to the afterlife. In the current age the ritual is still conducted if the individual’s soul lingered and manifested into a ghost or if there's a phenomenon that caused it to become trapped. This ritual does not dispel powerful arcane or divine magics that would cause one’s soul to be trapped.

Participants

The ritual is conducted by a solitary acolyte of Morrigan.

Observance

Soul Severance is a ritual that an acolyte of Morrigan uses to seperate the spirit from the body when it doesn't separate naturally.
