Army of the One God
The Angels were crafted in response to Tennibrin's army of demons, with the task of facing them, and protecting the mortals from them. He made the first generation of angels from the many different aspects of his being. Love, life, honor, etc. As such, they wielded vast power within the realms of said aspect. These aspects were called their Angelic Domains. Each angel's domain was chosen because it was the opposite to one of Tennibrin's demon's domains. For the demon of darkness, the One God made an angel of light. For the demon of death, the One God made an angel of life. For the demon of anarchy, the One God made his angel of judgement.
These angels are also able to bestow their power upon any mortals whose faith is true, and whose deeds are truer, and who seek to join the fight against sin. Mortals who wield this power can call upon the angels, and perform great feats of divine magic. Those who can do so are called Prophets, and they are by far the most feared, and respected among the mortals, often gaining positions of great influence simply because of the power they wield.
The One God's Angelic Army has multiple generals. The three greatest generals are Judacam, Angel of Judgement, Vitia, Angel of Life, and Lious, the Risen. These three angelic generals are by far the most powerful of the entire angel army, and all three of them are under the One God's direct command.
Becoming an Angel
The angels crafted by the One God's hands with the purpose of being just that are not the only angels. Though it is a most rare occurrence, there are those who were born as mortals, but rose and became angels. This occurs when a mortal is selected to complete a major part of the One God's grander plan. There are few examples of this, but none are greater than that of Emperor Lious, now known as Lious the Risen. The greatest of the Leonin emperors.
His faith in the One God was rivaling even that of the dragons. When the One God was sealed off from Tennibrin, Emperor Lious was selected to wield the One God's power, and would prevent Tennibrin from destroying Maznia. The duel was a long three days of pain. But Lious was incapable of death whilst he wielded the One God's power. Lious brought Tennibrin to his knees, and rendered him incapable of striking Maznia's killing blow. Just as Lious was about to strike down the Father of Sin, he was called away from the fight, and back to Maznia where he ruled for another forty years until he was called up to the divine realm to take his rightful place as one of the One God's generals.
There are few others who have performed these great deeds, though none as great as that of Emperor Lious.
War of Divine, and Infernal
The angels were crafted with the purpose of combating the demons that were crafted by Tennibrin's hands, and to protect the loyal mortals from their influence. For every demonic, sinful domain to be claimed by a member of Tennibrin's brood, there was crafted an angel to be its natural opposite. This insured that Tennibrin's demons would turn their attention away from the mortals, and to the One God's new army. However, there were already mortals who not only fell to the demons' influence, but possessed their powers. This is when the One God gave his angels the ability to bestow their own powers upon the mortals who sought it faithfully.
This caused the war between the angels and demons to bleed into the mortal realm, with both empire having an agency filled with those who wield the divine, or infernal magic. The Deitaran Empire has the Angelus Agency, meaning "Of Angels" while the Tennibrin Empire has the Inferus Order, meaning "Of the Infernals". These orders have since become independent from their parent empires, and have a much more localized war with just each other.
Both angels, and demons are incapable of death, and can only be subdued for prolonged periods of time. The greatest example of this is Pax, angel of Peace. Bellus, the Demon of War, and Tennibrin's right hand was locked in battle with Pax, and ultimately incapacitated Pax, enabling Bellus to imprison Pax in Tennibrin's realm, where he lives in unending agony. There have been numerous examples of such events. Wins, and losses on both sides of the war have dwindled the total size of the angelic, and demonic armies to less than half their original numbers and glory.
There is little to no sign of this war ever coming to a close, and Maznia's original; perfection could never be further out of reach.
