Kulkulkan
The Kulkulkan is a dragon prisoner in Realm-R. Once a high deity of the Maya of Earth, Kulkulkan lost his place when he attempted to rid time and all cycles from existance in a ploy to become the highest deity of all. Three other deities, including the deity of crops (now known as Cealestis or Kyle) took him from the dimension Earth is in and placed him prisoner in Realm-R. As punishment for following along with (and being decieved by) Kulkulkan, the people of Lakamha were taken into Realm-R and 'forcibly evolved' (giving them the alien look they have today) and made to be the guards of the prisoner dragon.
Although most peoples of Lakamha are content with the sole purpose of their people to guard Kulkulkan, some were not. And others, have been decieved as their ancestors of old. These have left their families and joined the cult of Kulkulkan in the depths of the mountain he is imprisoned. This group is why the dragon has been able to continue to plot to gain Earth as his own.
Travellers from Earth normally have been sent in order to check the world and report back to Cealestis of the world of Realm-R and its peoples. They live with the Lakamhaans for a few days and see how they work from the aspect of simply another mortal. Thus, people of Lakamha are able to send grievamces to the deity without compaining directly. The Travellers are also set to confirm the deities special technologies are working in proper use. Unfortunately, Traveller Cody did not get this usual role as Traveller, but was thrown into Realm-R to send message of the Kulkulkan's plans, based on the actions of the previous Traveller Daz, who ran away from Lakamha and Caesestis.
While in Realm-R, Cody meets Daz and is given the same choice as he was: 'Join Kulkulkan and share the riches of Realm-R with Earth, or continue the status quo, letting famine and poverty continue to ravage Earth', knowing that this is the same choice as 'Free Kulkulkan to let him take over rulership of Earth and force all to worship him, or let the people of Earth continue in the current freedoms and choices they have.'
Over the centuries he has been imprisoned, you may be asking if Kulkulkan has attemped to escape before. He has, multiple times - though they were half-hearted attempts at best. Yet hearing of Earth's current technology has invigorated Kulkulkan to push for his escape.
Unless the previous attempts were ploys to divert attention from his growing cult.
And the other two dragons in Realm-R who also want to rule the world - would they really let Kulkulkan go by himself? Or have they already teamed up in their own way?
