This is the gameplays of a solo RPG game known as Alone Among the Stars. Set in a distant galaxy, the story is generated using dice rolls and playing cards. Here is the notes taken durin gameplay, hope you enjoy.
Vios the Ferrun, from the planet Ferrium. A magnet giant travelling the galaxy in search of new metals for his home world.
Star System: Huvei
Planet: New Teblov/Palrun
Cycle 48: Floating in the Sky, Plantlife
Floating high in the sky is a field of rotting flowers. Dark browns and tarnished yellow petals wilt in the air. No sense of wind anywhere, almost like suspended in time. Touching the petals causes them to fade to ashes and fall to the ground below. Ships fly through carelessly acting like the flowers are dirt beneath their wings. The ships are all heading South to one of the cities of the Empire.
Cycle 49: In a volcano, Lifeform
The debris in the skies seem to whirlpool in the air and drag their way down into an inverted volcano. Sucking in like a blackhole, the ship is caught and Vios is spat out into the underworld caves. Hot, dark and walls illuminated with amber glowing rock bugs scuttling all over, melting the debris to consume. Folling the tunnels leads Vios to a strong attraction to a giant queen bug. Glowing amber crystals on its back with various glowing objects like a crab decorating its shell. Somewhere on its back is a strange metal giving off a strong polar force.
Cycle 49: On a cliff face, Lifeform
A battle ensues as the Queen is not fond of the magnetic giant, it chases him through the wide tunnels and swarms him with her insect waves. The chase continues to the edge of a ravine, delving deeper and deeper into the core of the planet. The ship navigation is getting disturbed and Vios is getting dizzy from the constant changes of polar forces. He has no choice but to ive into the ravine to escape the Amber queen. Crashing the ship into the edge of the ravine, a group of white skinned creatures stop work and help Vios from his ship wreck. The lost species of Palrun hidden deep underground from the empire save him and return him to the surface.
Cycle 50: In the desert, Ruins
On the surface, Vios is pointed in the direction of the spaceship graveyard, across the horizon of cracked sandstone and scorching heat. But the giant doesn’t seem to mind. So he journeys across the desert and into the graveyard to find a ship. A couple of star rotations occur until he finds enough scrap and engine parts to build a new ship that would get him off the planet. Or at the very least, some form of civilization that would help him.
Cycle 50: Under light of the moon, Natural phenomena
The dark sky is upon Vios and the light of stars in the sky reveals a hidden vein of shimmer stone, a form of metal common in this part of the galaxy. Shimmer stone has the properties of partly reflecting UV light and often used in tinted windows as a fine powder. If in a large quantity can cause reflections enough to blind or daze passerby. Vios decides to coat the ship in this shimmer stone in the hopes of evading detections from Teblonian scanners.
Cycle 50: Cliff Edge, Plantlife
Starting up the ship and giving it a runup on what he thought was a long straight, turned out to be more rotting petals above a chasm. The ship falls through the petals and down into the shadowy chasm. But the large drop gives the ships engines enough time to fire up and kick in. Vios swerves the junk ship towards the sky and activates the thrusters. Boosting up and smashing through the ash of petal dust into the star roads of the Huvei system.
Star System: Zao
Planet: Cindar VQ Space Station
Cycle 56: Natural, Desert
The Junk ship has stopped at the space station to fuel up. Notices tall doorways and far stretching panels to open them. Waiting in the entertainment section, watching a simulation of worm wranglers. Riding in the sand deserts. Turns out they are LARPing a movie called Dune. A copy of the book is fabricated and Vios tries reading it but finds it a bit slow and loses interest.
Cycle 56: Natural, Snowy Peaks
The top of the station is reserved for an observatory where travelers can view the moons of Sadin. Vios has a look and uses his magnetic powers to amplify the telescopes. Looking inside he can see movement in the giant trees on the moon surface. He tries zooming in further but breaks the telescope. Making sure no one has seen him, he quickly walks away from the telescope and heads back for his ship.
Cycle 56: Structure, Snowy Peaks
Just as he is about to enter the elevator, he watches outside a solar flare pass by. The flare is nothing special and the station defenses should handle the impact with little to no damage. But still the flare comes surging into the tip of the station. Rattling the observatory and flickering the lights as it drives through. After a couple seconds, the flare has passes and the room returns to normal. The energy from the flare makes Vios feel warm inside. He looks down to see he is practically glowing with solar energy, before cooling down once more to his natural raw iron appearance. Time to get to the ship.
Cycle 56: Structure, River
Upon returning to the bay, he notices a gentle stream of oil across the main walkway. He watches as maintenance droids nonchalantly gather cleaning materials and inspect the oil. Following it to the source of the leakage from the solar flare. They begin welding up the damage but the blow torch builds up too much pressure inside the pipes causing the pipe to explode with oil and metallic fragments. Alarms begin going off and the droids have turned into a frenzy. Wheeling around in a state of panic. All except one who turns to see the oil coming in buckets. Sighs and turns to fetch a bigger mop. Vios leaves the droids to deal with the situation and flies his junk ship to the next location on his expedition.
