Messial Mountains

Nestled in the heart of Kleriel, the Messial Mountains form a colossal spine running from the icy expanses of Ogria and Nemedia in the north to the arid deserts of Turran in the south. Their name "Messial" aptly denotes their central placement on the continent, and their staggering reach and altitude cement them as one of the world's natural wonders. The range's crowning glory, Mount Everreach, soars into the heavens, a sentinel at the confluence of Groziya, Kyrus, Ogria, and Kassaria, marking the highest point of the range.   The Messial Mountains are a complex tapestry of nature's grandeur, boasting valleys, high plateaus, and sunken depressions that etch its length. Yet, it is a region marked by its inaccessibility, with scant natural passes cleaving through the rugged terrain. In bygone eras, the industrious Messawi Dwarves exerted their mastery over stone to carve monumental tunnels through the heart of these mountains, creating thoroughfares that once buzzed with commerce and travel. The decline of the Dwarven dominion at the outset of the third world, after the devesation of the Cataclysm, has led to the neglect of these great passages, which now lie mostly in ruin or under the control of lesser Human realms, Goblin enclaves, and Orcish hordes.   These once-celebrated Dwarven tunnels, now relics of a bygone golden age, have become precarious pathways rife with danger. Travelers brave enough to traverse these ancient corridors must now contend with the perils of banditry, marauding creatures, and the lurking threats of a forgotten underworld. Amidst this decline, only a select few tunnels remain fortified, maintained by the strategic interests of the surrounding major powers, standing as fortified conduits amidst a network of peril and lost glory.
