Aegis of the Wyrmguard

Description

The Aegis of the Wyrmguard stands out with its fiery red hue, each piece crafted meticulously from the scales of ancient fire dragons. Mithral strands weave through the scales, adding an intricate and formidable design. The armor's chestplate has a prominent draconic visage, eyes made from glimmering rubies that pulse faintly. The pauldrons are shaped like dragon wings, each feather-like scale razor-sharp and layered to perfection. The gauntlets end in claw-like extensions, giving the wearer a fiercing grip. The interior is lined with velvet-like dragonhide, providing unexpected comfort and flexibility despite its imposing exterior. When viewed in low light, the scales appear to shimmer as if smoldering with an eternal inner fire.

Usage

While wearing the Aegis of the Wyrmguard, the wearer gains resistance to fire damage and a +2 bonus to AC. Additionally, once per day, the wearer can activate the Draconic Protection to emit a 20-foot radius burst of fiery energy that deals 6d6 fire damage to all creatures in the area. Creatures caught in the burst must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw, taking half damage on a successful save.

Lore

Crafted by the renowned smith Fafnir for a legendary dragon knight order, the Aegis of the Wyrmguard was born of dragonfire and tempered in the heart of a volcano. It has been passed through generations, serving as both a symbol of the knight's allegiance and a testament to their draconic might. Each use of its powers invokes the memory of ancient dragonkind, bestowing a fraction of their unmatched prowess upon the wearer.   This armor consists of a fitted metal chest piece worn with supple leather. Although it leaves the legs and arms relatively unprotected, this armor provides good protection for the wearer's vital organs while leaving the wearer relatively unencumbered.
