There have been many, many versions of Realmspace. This may have been one, or someday again it may be one, but for now, it's ours.
"Realmspace and Beyond" is partly my own independent homebrew, and partly
slight tweaking of some of my favorite published material.
From the day it was published, I fell in love with
the Spelljammer campaign setting. I ran a handful of adventures with my high school friends back in the day in that setting as well as running several other adventures. Even when I left D&D during
The Dark Times, I still looked fondly back at that setting.
Back in 2016, 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons had given the game a resurgence of popularity. In wanting to relax and relive the glory days, I headed over to my Friendly Local Game Store. We played for months, but when our DM changed jobs, the other players asked if someone would DM. And down the rabbit hole I went.
I started off that first campaign with a re-tuned version of
Treasure Hunt as a springboard into a stealth Spelljammer campaign. It's mutated and matured greatly over time, and now the characters are well on their way to maybe-one-day-eventually getting back home.
When I took a break from my campaign due to health issues, another DM ran
Waterdeep: Dragon Heist for awhile, and then we went back to
Solara. We took a break again and are a good way through
Curse of Strahd. We should be back under the dome in early 2020, with plans do do one other campaign set under someone else, and then I'll be starting a new campaign, potentially on
Abeir .
With everyone in one shared universe, who knows...they might all run into each others' characters at some point.
