Absolute Zero

A powerful spell of the Primordial of Water, Absolute Zero is often considered to be a form of nuclear option when combat is involved. Absolute Zero's firepower is downright unmatched among that particulary school of magic, however the associated risks of using it are similarly high, making it a double-edged sword.   It's also notoriously bad when targeting is involved, easily capable of killing the caster rather than the target. Thus requiring a highly skilled caster to not end in mutual kill, or even an accidental suicide. It's especially important as due to how destructive (and potentially self-destructive it is), 'training' its usage is rather hard.

Effect

Absolute Zero causes instant temperature drop of the target to - no rewards for figuring that out - absolute zero. The effect can partially guided towards the target by influencing a certain object/material. For example, if an ice mage was fighting against a fire mage, and the latter has repeatedly melted ranged attacks, the ice mage can use Absolute Zero on the water spilled between him and his opponent to - if the water reachers its target - blast it with this spell.   However, it requires utmost control to not get influenced by it yourself, especially if you're partially wet as well - and because you need a physical contact with the influenced area to work. Even with the effect being partially suppressed in the part of it in direct contact with your body, Absolute Zero will inevitably drop your body temperature by a lot, easily causing frostbites especially on the body parts that were used to activate the spell.   Casting that spell with a large degree of residual cooling from earlier ice spells can easily kill you in the aftermath of using Absolute Zero.

Side/Secondary Effects

Expect a temperature drop to yourself, one potentially lethal through hypothermia. It's also extremely easy to freeze yourself to death on an accident if the spell accidentally influences yourself. Worst of all, it's also very easy to lose fingers (or other body parts) used to activate it.
