Golems
Golems are the demihumans of the
Primordial of Earth. Similarly to the Beastfolk, Golems are a very varied species of demihuman and can be further subdivided based on which aspect of Earth they represent, such as Sand Golems, Stone Golems or Clay Golems.
Golems are also probably one of the more reclusive demihumans as their nonexistent speech makes it hard to integrate into normal Initiate society. Turning into a golem is considered quite a sad existence for an initiate from an outside perspective but the sanity damage from the Earth Lore has probably already turned the mages/cultists into stoic people to begin with.
Basic Information
Anatomy
All Golems are humanoids and resemble what they look like before becoming Golems. However, their bodies are made of various earth materials, depending on which Aspect of the Primordial of Earth they represent.
For unknown reasons, unlike other Demihumans with no identifiable biological organs to assist with speech, they are not magically capable of speech unlike, for example, a
Sludge.
Genetics and Reproduction
Golems are capable of reproduction, but only with each other. Their biologies are too incompatible with baseline humans and other demihumans for there to be any chance of a successful conception, though sexual intercourse is still possible.
Many see the cross-species infertility as a benefit though, if all they care about is the fun of having sex without wanting to worry about the potential responsibilities that comes with having children.
Ecology and Habitats
Because of what their food is, they can live anywhere they want except for in the open oceans.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Golems are capable of eating rocks, sand, and other things generally considered to be part of the earth. It's how they gain energy and repair damage to their bodies. Golems that live away from other sapient beings often forget baseline humans and other demihumans can't eat the same foods they do.
Behaviour
Golems have a particular tendency to be stoic and silent by default both due to their inability to speak in the first place as well as the influence of the Lore of Eath.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
All Golems are innately capable of the Seismic Sense, the heightened ability to sense vibrations in the ground. This ability used to be called by various other names, but Toph of The Last Airbender fame proved so popular among Lore of Earth followers, including Golems, that all previous terms were displaced by what the show called this skill.
