UN Supernatural Security Committee

UN Supernatural Security Commitee is the United Nations agency tasked with overseeing the magical affairs on a worldwide scale. Its position reflects that of the real world, mundane United Nations - it's not capable of much direct action, however it acts as a convenient stage allowing the leadership of major national and international organizations to come together to discuss things.

Structure

Committee Structure

As one can expect, the Supernatural Security Committee in organized in a significantly different way than other UN Committees. It is populated by the representatives of national agencies for paranormal defense, together with a handful of more influential international organizations. It's further divided between several subcommittees tasked with overseeing certain elements of the magical world.
Subcommittee of Threat Monitoring - The group tasked with monitoring and ranking magical threats (of non-human origin) operating on international level (i.e. threats for more than a single government). It publishes (or just confirms) the list of active Apocalypse, Continental and International Level threats. It also acts as an independent body for intel exchange about said threats between hostile member organizations.
Subcommittee of Law Enforcement - The group that's best described as something akin to magical Interpol, except focused entirely on the world of initiates. With how self-governing said world is and with member organizations generally disinterested in letting foreign political organizations into their turf, its power is vastly limited.
Most of its job is issuing international arrest warrants for particularly nasty criminals, the sort that the member organizations are ready to target together, their political division aside.
Subcommittee of External Affairs - Previously named 'Subcommittee of Colonial Oversight', name changed out of the term 'colonialism' becoming increasingly frowned upon. SIC is tasked with maintaining maps of known Elsewheres and at least theoretically act as a central platform for discussing international issues caused by attempts to exploit or explore Elsewheres.
Subcommittee of International Affairs - While other subcommittees tend to be relatively small in terms of their decision-making gremiums in order to get things done, this isn't the case with the Subcommittee of International Affairs. This is the place for debates and attempts to mediate between representatives of various international (or national) groups of interest.
Sending ambassadors to other groups always poses risks of foul play, however having it done through the neutral organization like the UN is seen as safer option. As a reason, every member organizations has at least a single representative here.

International Organizations

Erithian Catholic Church - One of the founding members of the Supernatural Security Committee. Active. It's membership occassionally contested due to its supposed nature as a cult.
Illuminated Conclave - One of the founding members of the Supernatural Security Committee. Active. It's membership occassionally contested due to its connection to a number of unhealthy practices.
Corvus Institute - Joined the SSC in 1961. Active. It's activity within the SSC is rather limited in comparison to other main organizations.
Inalco - Offered to join during the founding in hopes of civilizing the Reich's remnants a little and reconnecting to them severely weakened after the wartime casualties. Offer remained unanswered, and was officially retracted following Operation Highjump and the subsequent War of Remnants.

National Agencies

Arcane Ordo Europae - One of the founding members, and one of the two technically international organizations maintaining magical security throughout the European continent. Active.
European Organization for Supernatural Defense - Second of the two European magical security agencies. Joined the list of SSC affiliates in 2007, immediately after being created by European Union as a part of the Treaty of Lisbon. Active.
US Government Department of Eschatology - Supernatural defense organization of the United States. One of the founding members. Temporarily retracted their representatives due to international backlash following the First Appalachian War in 1994, only to return to full membership in 1996.
Agency for Supernatural Defense Planning - South Korean organization for magical defense. Joined the SSC following the conclusion of the Korean War in 1953. Active member ever since.
Ministry of Supernatural Security - North Korean organization for magical defense. Joined the SSC following the conclusion of the Korean War in 1953. Active member ever since.
Supernatural Public Safety Commission - Japanese organization for magical defense. Joined the SSC following the conclusion of the US occupation of Japan in 1952.
11th Directorate - The Russian organization for supernatural defense (technically inherited by the Russian Federation from the USSR, where it operated as a part of the KGB). One of the founding members, active ever since.
Royal Magical Corps of Taured - One of the founding members of the organization. Its membership was officially terminated following the Moonshard War and the subsequent Fall of Taured.

History

UN Supernatural Security Committee was formed at the conclusion of the Second World War, together with the United Nations as an organization. It was the result of the calls (lasting back all the way to at least late 19th Century) for at least some degree of international cooperation between the initiates.
It coincided with agreement between the founding members to not involve themselves in the wars of the mundane world, seeing the massive disaster that the Second World War was for the initiates as a pointless waste of lives.
That much was a theory. In practice, the US Government Department of Eschatology and the 11th Directorate were heavily invested in the victory of their sided during the Cold War, with certain degree of mutual hostility surviving the collapse of the USSR.
