Magmatic Armor
Effect
The spell forms a protective barrier of cool air just over the skin, protecting it from the most intense heat. Paired with control over lava, the caster then will splash it over the cool barrier, instantly hardening the lava into rock in the shape of protective plated armor. Additional layers of the armor can be built up through repeated use of the spell to make it stronger and more durable.
Side/Secondary Effects
Armor created with this spell is formed from igneous rock, and incredibly heavy. Most dragons will be unable to fly when using it, and if layers are built up on the wings, it can cause damage when shattered or broken. Initial layers of the armor made through the spell are also quite thin and may not be able to sustain damage from other dragons or from gunfire. The spell also poses risks in that shards of the rock are incredibly sharp and may cause more harm than they prevented, causing lacerations and tearing through wing membranes upon it shattering. Those that make the armor without much thought into its shapes may also cause themselves to be punctured by it if spikes and ornamentation is added.
If the spell is done incorrectly, it can be deadly, causing extreme burns and instant charring of the flesh if the protective barrier is not in place or lava pools around and over it. Those who have botched the spell are most often unable to be helped before succumbing to the heat.
