Reese's Ratting Dog
Basic Information
Anatomy
The Reese's Ratting Dog, or the RR bulldog as its sometimes called, is a small dog breed bred for hunting rats and other pests. They have thickly muscled bodies and short but not brachycephalic faces, a powerful bite for their weight, and thin tails. The breed almost exclusively has very short smooth fur generally being white, light gray, brown, or copper with minimal patterning. Typically the breed will have brown to copper eyes, although cross breeding has introduced blue and yellow.
Additional Information
Domestication
This dog breed is entirely domestic, and the product of purposefully breeding multiple breeds into an excellent, strong hunter capable of flushing and killing small game such as rats, mice, ferrets, and rabbits. They are highly sought after by hunters for their love of digging and being able to squeeze into the burrows of rabbits and rats easily, to flush animals to other dogs and into traps.
Uses, Products & Exploitation
Their extremely high prey drive makes owning a RRD with other small pets unsuitable, as they are highly likely to attack and kill them, especially rodents. Birds however are generally safe, as this breed shows little interest in them.
Average Intelligence
Reese's Ratting Dogs are highly intelligent and easy to train, at the cost of them becoming easily bored. They demand a highly active lifestyle and ones who are understimulated are prone to destroying their owner's homes by digging or tearing apart their toys. Eager to please, they are highly motivated with positive reinforcement such as food and toys for training, and will easily listen to and respond to commands even if trained later in life.
