Ludovic does not often use the shortsword as one, instead often using it as a conduit for magic and extension of his aura during spell use.
History
Rimewraith was created for Ludovic following the Battle of the Moon's Rage, as the god lost his previous shortsword when he was thrown from the Temple of the Crane.
Significance
On Rimewraith's guard, it is pierced with a brass ring and chain connected to one of Soliairs Taeyang's feathers that was given to Ludovic by the Crane God during his recovery from his injuries in the War of the Moon. Like all of Soliairs' other feathers given to followers and allies, it allows him to call upon the crane or their power if needed, but more importantly, is a symbol of their newfound alliance together and pact of mutual protection. The feather was given to Ludovic as quoted by Soliairs- "So you can repay the debt you owe." Presumably, Soliairs was referring to the care they gave to Ludovic, and that their crew saved his life, and their expectation that one day he or his cult will return the favor.
