The Eyes of Pagoni

Summary

Pagoni, the God of Peacocks, one day noticed that her temple was not receiving as many offerings as it usually did, but her followers remained as dedicated as they had ever been. Her followers claimed they were continuing to send her offerings but her priests in turn also claimed that they weren't being received. Deciding to investigate the routes leading to her temple, Pagoni took on her divine form and flew over the roads, dropping an eyespot feather every so often along the route. Not seeing any issues, but also none of the priests meant to bring offerings to her temple, Pagoni returned home. From her nest, she used her fallen feathers to observe her roads for days until a delivery to her temple was on route. Watching the roads from afar, she waited to see what would happen to her delivery of offerings and found a dragon lying in wait that raided her caravan. Pagoni hid among the next caravan and waited for the dragon to raid her offerings again and when she confronted it, flared her tail fan to scare it away.

Cultural Reception

Among mortal circles, The Eyes of Pagoni is often received as a tale of the god's cleverness and resourcefulness. In draconic circles, although the telling of the event is much the same, it is received much more negatively, a tale of how threatening the gods are and extreme their powers.
