Dwarf

If human legends are true, then the Dwarves were birthed from the blood of the earth, gifted reason by the Gods and created as the Gods Craftsmen. Dwarves don’t dispute this origin, but they don’t agree with it either, and have their own myths about their place in the world. Regardless, the Dwarves dwell in halls build deep beneath mountains and buried in the earth, fighting and warring with other creatures from beneath the earth. Their mines and caverns are said to contain roads to the World Tree and into the lower realms.   The Dwarves hate the Giants with a passion that borders on Genocidal. Tales passed down through the clans hold the Giants as at fault for some set of Ancient wrongs done the Dwarves, though as with much of their ancient history, they are reluctant to talk about it. They are suspicious of the Elves, though their relationship with that mysterious race varies by clan from hatred to mutual respect. Their general attitude towards humans in patronizing if respectful. They think of Humans as Barbarians; Good Warriors, makers of Good Mead and Ale, but otherwise barely able to craft a sword you’d let a child play with. ‘Crafted by a Human’ is a Dwarven expression meaning roughly “Garbage”   Dwarves are physically shorter than humans, but broader, to the point they have similar masses to humans.  They age much more slowly and possess a variety of physical and cultural elements distinct from humanity.  Their skin colours are said to resemble various forms of earth; from Dull to Dark Brown, Pale White of Sand, the Deep Dark Brown of Peet, Ruddy Red, or a dozen other potential colours.  Their hair colours are similar to those of humans; Blonde, Brown, Black or Red, while their eyes tend towards Brown and Hazel, with Blue and Green being relatively rare.
