Frue

Frue is a term derived from the Goddess Freyja to denote a married Freewoman who bares no other rank.  Thus the wives of Jarl's are 'Frue', as are the wives of other prominent figures. 
Women may be referred to as 'Frue' on their own if they have achieved some measure of prominence and respect within a community and no other title applies.
