Cinderwyrm (Sin-der-worm)

Heralds of the Storm

It is often forgotten that Caldros, though commonly known as the Storm Cloaked King, has authority over more than simple rain and thunder. A god of natural disasters he is capable of summoning earthquakes, tsunamis, forest fires, and even volcanos as a means to release his ever-growing wrath. This is best observed in his most favored servants, the Cinderwyrm. Draconic and blazing with a dripping inner fire, the Cinderwyrm act as the tempestuous god's dreaded heralds in his interactions with mortals as well as his most powerful soldiers. Capable of diving into any stubborn fortification or earthen ground with their hurricane-tattered wings, they can summon large spewing rivers of lava to overwhelm mortals and kingdoms alike who believe themselves immune to any storm.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Large and radiating intense heat, the Cinderwyrms of Xepherypha are intimidating to any mortal who first looks upon them. Appearing largely draconic in origin, the Cinderwyrm possess large scaly tails, thick and powerful claws, and reptilian muzzles. However, their six pairs of leathery tattered wings, humanoid bodies with digitigrade legs, and intense radiating flames speak towards a more divine origin.

Genetics and Reproduction

Crafted by Caldros from the souls of those who burned brightest at the times of greatest natural peril, the Cinderwyrms do not engage in natural reproduction. However, they have been known to pass on the fire burning within themselves at their god's behest to help create offspring with mortals who might be able to help those in his favor assuage or avoid natural disasters.

Ecology and Habitats

Flying on six wings within Xepherypha's eternal storm, they appear as blazing beacons within its roiling clouds, only settling upon one of Cadros' many trophy islands to deliver important information or judge as necessary. Preferring high spires and towers to stay close to the storm, they enjoy the feeling of the rain against their burning bodies and the thrill of lightning to excite their senses.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The first to be sent to those who draw Caldros' eye and potential ire, the Cinderwyrms are unerringly able to judge whether those speaking towards them are lying of their guilt towards both harming the natural world unnecessarily and if they view themselves as being immune to repercussion. Speaking in flickering hissing tones, the heralds of Caldros will simply acknowledge the guilty's sins before they head back out, the first raindrops sizzling upon their bodies as they return to whence they came.
