Rank: Tu-u (Two-ew)
Second Rank: The Growing Star
Though the Churrians largely moved away from their military origins, generations of martial structure integrated with Churrian life are difficult to replace. As such, though many Churrians operate in largely civilian roles, every member of the Sanguar Institute is expected to hold and maintain a rank based on one's education and level of expertise. While there are nuances in this structure to denote further specialization or operational roles, every Sanguar Institute member is expected to operate underneath one of five different umbrella ranks.
Considered the second-most rank for members of the Sanguar Institute to achieve naturally over their lifetime, the Tu-u, also known off-hand as movers, are generally thought to be the equivalent of young adults and entry-level professionals within Churrian society. Performing safe and menial work, the Tu-u are expected to continue growing their knowledge and skill level to achieve the third rank, Tu-ul, which grants them the respect of a fully qualified professional within their fields.
That said, it is not uncommon for Tu-u to stay within this rank if they are satisfied with the work they are doing and see no reason to move on or because it provides the social benefits that they may need to maintain individual or familial stability.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for this rank, an individual must have a basic understanding of the world, have shown adequate participation in the learning process by receiving vouchers from individuals of Tu-ul rank or higher regarding their competency and ability, and have passed a ranking examination given by a Professional Standards Council.
Requirements
To be eligible for this rank a Sanguar Institute citizen must have reached the age and maturity of 16 years old or a biological and mental equivalent.
Appointment
The rank of Tu-u is bestowed on an individual upon the completion of their examination by a Professional Standards Council if they are deemed to be appropriate for the rank. Afterward, due to the coming-of-age nature of the rank, the individual may attend an appointment ceremony with others who passed, as well as with attending members of their family and community, to celebrate their social success. However, attendance is not required to attain this rank.
Duties
Those possessing the rank of Tu-u are, first and foremost, expected to be active members of their community by serving in nonspecialized roles or internship positions. While the acquisition of knowledge is not as primary here as it is for Tu, it is generally encouraged for Tu-u to continue their education and maintain building their skill to a more specialized degree while under the leadership of higher ranks. Exploration of their interests is highly encouraged and as such it is not uncommon for a Tu-u to go between several jobs as they sample the needs, demands, and benefits of each one.
Responsibilities
Tu-u will generally be assigned roles within the Sanguar Institute that are not considered glorious or which have menial associations. The idea behind this is that the Tu-u are helping to maintain essential, if boring, societal needs while also being taught the specialized skills necessary for further mastery of their chosen fields by higher-ranking individuals. While in practice this may not be as clean cut, a Tu-u is responsible for keeping their eyes, ears, and minds open to learning while their ranking superiors work to allow them the chance to learn while keeping them from hurting themselves or others and damaging essential equipment and infrastructure.
Benefits
The most obvious benefit for Tu-u is that they have chances for more specialized attention from higher-ranking individuals who are masters in their field while also positively participating in their community which grants them social support and structure. Tu-u will also see an increase in their stipend which grants them further access to community resources such as private living spaces and family start-ups.
Accoutrements & Equipment
Like all other Sanguar Institute members, every Tu-u is given a simple representation of their rank in the form of a basic insignia to pin onto their clothing. In this case, a symbol of a golden eight-pointed star inside of another eight-pointed star representing their potential for further growth.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
While an individual cannot simply lose this rank once they acquire it, as it is an acknowledgment of their achieved adulthood and intellectual competency, more severe punishments are available for those who break the rules or perform criminal acts while bearing this rank. This may include incarceration with the intention of rehabilitation, community service, and, in especially severe cases, banishment from the Sanguar Institute.
