Rank: Tu-ul (Two-ewl)
Third Rank: The Warming Star
Though the Churrians largely moved away from their military origins, generations of martial structure integrated with Churrian life are difficult to replace. As such, though many Churrians operate in largely civilian roles, every member of the Sanguar Institute is expected to hold and maintain a rank based on one's education and level of expertise. While there are nuances in this structure to denote further specialization or operational roles, every Sanguar Institute member is expected to operate underneath one of five different umbrella ranks.
Considered the rank that most adults achieve within the Sanguar Institute and within Churrian society, the Tu-ul is a rank that one achieves upon demonstrating competency and professionalism within their chosen field. Also known as the rank and file, individuals holding this rank are considered able to perform their jobs well and have a vested interest in maintaining the Sanguar Institute's social and humanitarian goals. While it is possible to achieve further ranks within Churrian society, this is not considered an expectation. As such, most within the Sanguar Institute will stay at this rank unless further motivation drives them onward towards mastery of their discipline.
Qualifications
For an individual to acquire the rank of Tu-ul, they will have to show adequate competency and knowledge in their chosen field by appearing before a Professional Standards Council made from higher ranking members of the same field and demonstrating their skills and mastery via interrogative discussion and/or practical application.
Requirements
While there are no official requirements for attaining the rank of Tu-ul, an individual is expected to at least be involved in the field they are applying for the rank in and have had sufficient time to practice their craft within it.
Appointment
Unlike the larger appointment ceremonies of the Tu-u, the Tu-ul ranking ceremonies tend to be a far more private occasion with the celebration following the event generally consisting of close family and friends.
Duties
Considered the rank given when one achieves overall maturity in their life, the Tu-ul encompasses the many professionals running the Sanguar Institute, including doctors, engineers, peacekeepers, and many more. The expectations for this rank are firm: To do your job to the best of your ability and to help society and others with your knowledge.
Responsibilities
Individuals who achieve this rank are expected to participate in society in a variety of ways. Not only are they expected to do their chosen jobs Tu-ul are also required to participate in educating the youth and furthering the Sanguar Institute's humanitarian goals. Whether they are a part of a domestic force or heading out to establish new divisions or facilities, the weight of their work and responsibilities hang heavily on them, but so too, at the same time, do their accomplishments lift them.
Benefits
Reaching this rank unlocks the final stipend benefits that an average individual within the Sanguar Institute can possess such as having the ability to participate politically within their communities and gaining access to resources important to their discipline.
Accoutrements & Equipment
Like all other Sanguar Institute members, every Tu-u is given a simple representation of their rank in the form of a basic insignia to pin onto their clothing. In this case, a symbol of three golden eight-pointed stars aligned in a triangle to represent stability and strength.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
The rank of Tu-ul within Churrian society is the first rank that can be actively stripped from an individual. The reason for this is that an individual ranked as a Tu-ul is no longer participating in the world as a learner but is now considered to be fully mature and competent at their job. As such, to demonstrate gross incompetence or malicious criminal behavior at this point is akin to participating in Churrian society as a saboteur or traitor. As such, punishments at this stage include the possibility of lengthy prison sentences, relegation to taskwork that a negligent individual cannot actively cause harm in, or outright banishment from the protection of the Sanguar Institute.
